Mother's Day

You don't really understand human nature unless you know why a child on a merry-go-round will wave at his parents every time around - and why his parents will always wave back.
~ William D. Tammeus

Never raise your hand to your kids. It leaves your groin unprotected.
~ Red Buttons

Where we love is home - home that our feet may leave, but not our hearts.
~ Oliver Wendell Holmes Sr.

A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie.
~ Tenneva Jordan

When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.
~ Sophia Loren, Women and Beauty

Mothers are fonder than fathers of their children because they are more certain they are their own.
~ Aristotle

The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.
~ Honore de Balzac

When you're a child she walks before you,
To set an example.

When you're a teenager she walks behind you
To be there should you need her.

When you're an adult she walks beside you
So that as two friends you can enjoy life together..

Happy Mother's Day, Mum. I love you.

I'm stealing some of these quotes for my blog come May 14th this year!

By the way... I had no idea Mother's Day was on a different day in the UK until Helen mentioned it in my shower entry. Is it always on March 26th... or does it fall on whatever day is the fourth Sunday in March?

It's not always the 26th March, but I'm not sure if it's always the fourth Sunday in March. I have a feeling that it's been in April before, but I wouldn't swear to it. It's always a Sunday towards the end of March/beginning of April though.
